Peggy

Fashion Design graduate, with a keen interest in fashion business and the fashion landscape.

Hi, my name is Peggy Lunney. I am 24 year old Fashion Design Graduate (with distinction) from RMIT University in Melbourne, AUS with an interest in entering the fashion business verse. I am highly creative and am particularly drawn to a career in Fashion buying, or curation.

Graduate Collection; Reveal vs Conceal, 2024

My project ‘Reveal vs Conceal’ is a sheer tailored collection exploring the hidden insights within clothing. Purposefully embracing the beauty of the unfinished, the collection will consist of garments that will challenge their traditional archetypes. ‘Reveal Vs. Conceal’ will be crafted from unexpected sheer materials, designed to unveil and highlight construction details that are typically hidden. The collection will focus on sheer tailoring along with the exposed details and hidden features. I aim to evoke a sense of mystery, blurring the lines between what is seen and what remains concealed.

Largely informed by Maison Margiela’s approach to design, my “Reveal vs Conceal” is influenced by the extensive design archive of the fashion house, where transparency and construction elements are at the forefront of design decisions.

My collection aims to delve deep into the intricacies of the design process, highlighting the beauty found within. I wish to exude a sense of incompletion in the collection, transcending traditional notions of what a finished garment is expected to look like.

Styling Project; Inner Child, 2023

I wish to create an art-focussed editorial photoshoot in the form of a magazine spread. I want to express a narrative of a weird, silly, and child-like energy within my models and in extension, all of us.

The styling project conveys a narrative of the inner child manifesting and expressing itself within an adult. The inner-child being the part of one’s self untouched by society’s expectations. These are qualities that are too often lost into adulthood but seen so clearly in children.

I want to create a playful story of one’s inner child taking over and being outwardly expressed; with the models in unusual, comical poses and actions that mimic childish actions. The series will be cheeky and silly and aims to rouse smiles from viewers.

‘The Melbourne Girl’, 2023

Project made with a collaboration with ‘Error 404 Store’ in mind. I designed this collection with the persona of ‘The Melbourne Girl’ at the forefront.
